DxOMark has shared the results of its iPhone 17 display test for the new models. The tests detailed the display performance of both the iPhone 17 and the new iPhone Air. Surprisingly, both devices received the same overall score.

According to DxOMark experts, the iPhone Air offers a “balanced and refined visual experience.” While the device’s reflection management surpasses many of its competitors, it falls slightly behind the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. The only drawback noted in the report was that watching videos in the dark with automatic brightness on can leave the image very dull.

The iPhone Air delivers good color performance with True Tone enabled or disabled. However, the most striking feature in the tests was its touch response time, which measured 69ms, faster than competitors like the Galaxy S25 Edge (72ms) and the Pixel 10 Pro XL (90ms).
The standard iPhone 17 model, on the other hand, promises a “significant increase in readability.” The device boasts significant improvements in touch response time and readability compared to its predecessor. It also provides strong readability even in direct sunlight.
Both models received identical scores in Readability (154), Color (155), Video (140), and Touch (163). These results put both phones in 25th place globally. However, the iPhone 17 placed 5th in the premium category, while the iPhone Air ranked 20th in the ultra-premium category.
