It hasn’t even been a week since the announcement of Apple’s affordable iPhone 17e. However, the tech world is already buzzing about the future of the series. According to new claims, the iPhone 19e, expected to launch in early 2028, will finally feature ProMotion display technology.
iPhone 19e Expected with LTPO+ and ProMotion Support
ProMotion refers to Apple’s display panels with a variable refresh rate. To date, the budget-friendly “e” series models have been restricted to standard 60Hz panels. Therefore, the introduction of this screen technology is seen as a major turning point for the future of the lineup.
According to a new report by ZDNet Korea, Apple is currently developing a new LTPO+ technology that provides better power efficiency and faster response times. This new tech utilizes specialized oxide materials for switching and driving transistors.
Strategic Rollout: From Pro to “e” Series
This advanced LTPO+ display technology is expected to debut first in the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro series, the next-gen iPhone Air, and the foldable iPhone. Once successfully implemented in these high-end devices, standard LTPO panels are projected to trickle down to the more affordable iPhone 19e.
However, there is still significant uncertainty surrounding these claims. It is not yet 100% confirmed whether the iPhone 19e will definitely transition to an LTPO panel. Furthermore, the specific range of the ProMotion display remains unknown, as not all ProMotion screens share the same specs.
Looking back, the panels in the iPhone 13 Pro offered a range between 10Hz and 120Hz, while the iPhone 14 Pro generation pushed the lower limit down to 1Hz. Which frequency range the iPhone 19e will support remains a subject of great curiosity.
