Apple made a significant change to iPhone battery usage with iOS 26. In the new operating system version, the Battery tab in the Settings app detects unusual battery consumption and directly warns the user. Especially in cases of sudden, unexplained battery drops, the system now not only provides data but also provides suggestions for possible causes.
iOS 26 will improve battery performance
In previous iOS versions, users had to scroll through long lists to identify apps affecting battery usage. This made it difficult to identify the cause of sudden battery drops, especially during the day.

iOS 26 simplifies this process. The system automatically recognizes battery consumption deviations from normal and presents them to the user with a special graph. The graph compares battery consumption throughout the day with the normal usage profile. Apps or system activities with abnormal consumption are highlighted in orange.
In the new system, the amount of energy consumed by apps is evaluated not only numerically but also by considering the context of use. For example, even if an app that has been barely used in the background uses only 4% of its battery, this value can be considered abnormal and is displayed to the user in orange. In contrast, the system perceives higher battery consumption from an actively used social media app as normal.
This feature allows users to more easily identify which app is consuming more power than usual and, if necessary, close it to conserve battery power. While this innovation in iOS 26 may seem like a minor technical change, in practice, it can help the device stay on longer throughout the day. Apple is making data analysis more meaningful and actionable for users looking to improve their iPhone’s battery life.
