iPhone’s notifications are finally on their way to Android!

Android 16 is getting a new live notification feature. With this feature, various notifications will be pinned to the top of the screen.

The rivalry between Apple and Google, the two giants of the smartphone world, contributes to the emergence of innovative features and the improvement of the user experience. In recent years, the “Live Events” feature on the iPhone has allowed users to access certain information from the top of the screen. Now Google has rolled up its sleeves to bring similar functionality to the Android ecosystem.

Android 16 may come with an innovation similar to the “Live Events” feature on iPhones. Some changes in the operating system code have revealed a feature called “Rich Continuous Notifications” for Android 16. Allegedly, this feature will keep important information constantly visible in the status bar.

According to the researchers, continuous notifications will appear as icons in the status bar and can include custom backgrounds and text. Example designs showed how the estimated arrival time of an Uber car could appear in the status bar.

Rich Continuous Notifications will work in a similar way to Apple’s Live Events on iOS. Live Events can display various information on the iPhone’s lock screen and above notifications. iPhones with Dynamic Island will also have custom widgets.

In these notifications, it is possible to see information such as food order, taxi and parking meter time. This feature seems to ensure that users who switch from iOS to Android will not have problems with notifications.
