Apple’s new Apple Intelligence technology has been awaited by users for a long time. However, according to the statements made, innovations may not immediately enter our lives. The company’s software chief Craig Federighi explained that Apple has taken a very careful approach to this issue. Here are the details…
Apple Intelligence will be available to users gradually
Apple, which will take the first step on October 28 with iOS 18.1, plans to introduce artificial intelligence technology to users gradually. Federighi’s statements made it clear that Apple is avoiding to rush this process: “We strive to make every part right and we’ll release it when it’s ready.”
What will come with Apple Intelligence? In the first phase, users will be offered functional innovations such as AI write tools, notification summaries and removing unwanted contacts from photos. However, Apple does not plan to stop here. Federighi states that this technology will go through many stages in the long term and will continue to develop over the coming years.
It is also noteworthy that Apple prioritizes privacy in this process. Unlike other major language models, Apple emphasized that it will not process all user data in the cloud and will not use the data for artificial intelligence training. So, when Apple develops Siri, it plans to gain the trust of users with less information gathering.
Although Federighi acknowledged that Siri cannot give as detailed answers as major language models such as ChatGPT, he stated that Siri offers practical functions in the daily lives of users. “Siri may not write you a poem about quantum physics, but it can send you a message or open your garage door,” he said.
More advanced versions of Apple Intelligence will come with iOS 18.2 and iOS 18.4, which are expected to be released in the first half of 2024. Along with these updates, features like Image Playground will allow users to create their own animated images. In addition, personal emojis can be created with a new feature called Genmoji.
