Apple officially announced the iPhone 16e model last week. However, while this device was expected to be an affordable option, it caused controversy with its high price tag of 47,999 TL (European price 729 euros) for the 128GB model and the difference between it and the iPhone 16 being only 10 thousand TL. Apple, which launched the previous generation iPhone SE at a more reasonable price, has abandoned its affordable iPhone strategy according to users. So will there no affordable iPhone anymore?
Is the iPhone 16e affordable or a trimmed iPhone 16? There is only a 10 thousand TL difference!
Apple introduced the iPhone 16e as a more affordable version of the standard 16 model. However, the device lacks some important features. There is no Dynamic Island support, there is only a single rear camera, MagSafe magnetic charging support has been removed, and the device only supports 7.5W Qi wireless charging. Despite Apple using the new C1 modem, there are question marks as to whether it is as optimized as Qualcomm modems.

In addition, the fact that the screen has lower brightness in sunlight, there are some restrictions on video shooting features and some graphical restrictions in terms of performance make the iPhone 16e look like a trimmed iPhone 16 model. According to rumors, Apple is thinking of increasing profitability by positioning the iPhone 16e at a more expensive point than the previous SE models. However, the price difference between it and the iPhone 16 is only around 10 thousand TL. This may direct consumers to the iPhone 16, which offers better features.
In fact, the fact that the iPhone 15 is still available at affordable prices on the market also reduces the appeal of the newly released model. Although it is not clear whether Apple has abandoned its affordable iPhone policy, it is said that the iPhone 16e may actually be a “test model” and that more models like the “iPhone 17e” may be released in the future.
