Humane, an AI hardware startup, announced that its AI Pin devices will be completely disabled within 10 days. Starting from February 28, users will no longer be able to make searches, send messages, run AI queries, or access cloud services. However, the device’s battery level check feature will continue to work.
Humane AI Pin is to stop working in 10 days
Humane has advised users to download all their data before February 28, as the company will permanently delete all customer data on that date. Additionally, customers who are within the 90-day return period will receive a refund, and those who prefer to wait for the potentially hazardous charging case will receive a partial refund.

The sudden decision comes after Humane was acquired by HP. HP purchased Humane’s intellectual property rights for $116 million but does not plan to support the AI Pin hardware. Instead, HP intends to bring AI engineers and developers to its newly established innovation lab, HP IQ.
Humane had previously aimed for a $1 billion valuation, but reports suggest the company sold for far less due to only receiving 10,000 orders. The AI Pin had received significant criticism upon launch, with many reviews describing it as a product that didn’t solve any technological issues.
What do you think led to the failure of Humane’s AI Pin project? Can HP repurpose this technology in another way? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
