Geely’s premium electric vehicle brand, Zeekr, came under public scrutiny for its sales methods following a report published in the China Securities Gazette. The report alleged that Zeekr had been offering “zero mileage” vehicles that had already been registered or insured in some cities starting in May 2025.
In cities such as Guiyang, Chongqing, and Guangzhou, some consumers reported encountering legal concerns due to missing documentation and inconsistencies in the payment process. The company officially denied these allegations in a statement on July 19th, stating that the vehicles in question were display vehicles that had never been registered.
Zeekr denied the allegations: The vehicles were unregistered display models
According to Zeekr’s statement, all the vehicles in question were models used solely for display in showrooms and were never invoiced or sold to individual customers. It was stated that these vehicles had mandatory traffic insurance during the period of their display, but none of them had been registered as new vehicles, and no retail invoices were issued.

The company emphasized that this situation legally considers the vehicles to be “unregistered new vehicles.” Zeekr stated that it opposes all unethical practices involving vehicles sold under the guise of being new and does not support any activities that disrupt fair competition in the market.
The company stated that offering discounted vehicles after a certain period of storage in showrooms is a common practice throughout the industry. It explained that the status of these sales is fully disclosed to buyers in a transparent manner and includes all warranty rights, usage privileges, and first-owner status.
In response to public concerns about terminal-level sales practices reported in media reports, Zeekr announced the establishment of an internal audit team. This team examines dealer-level practices and implements corrective action as necessary. The company stated that these steps are implemented to both improve the purchasing process and increase transparency for consumers.
Zeekr also emphasized that it clearly labels the status of vehicles on its online ordering pages and informs customers before purchasing. It stated that it has a zero-tolerance policy against any activity that could violate consumer rights or violate fair trading principles.
