As you know, Amazon Kindle made history as a device that started a new trend worldwide. The device, which shattered the cliché of “it’s not the same as holding a book,” along with its counterparts, kicked off the e-book craze. However, there was perhaps one feature that its competitors had but Kindle lacked: a color display instead of black and white. That dream is finally coming true.
Amazon Finally Breaks Its Color Stubbornness for Kindle!
A new era is beginning in the world of e-book readers. The long-awaited color Kindle is finally becoming a reality. Amazon has announced the eagerly anticipated Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition. The device, priced at $280, will be available starting October 30th.
Kevin Keith, the head of Amazon’s Kindle products, made significant statements during the launch event held in New York on Tuesday. Keith stated, “Frankly, the technology wasn’t ready before. But now, we believe the technology is finally ready.” This claim was seen as peculiar, given that competitors like Kobo and Remarkable have offered color e-readers for some time.
The technology behind Colorsoft is based on E-Ink’s Kaleido technology. However, Amazon has developed an entirely new screen structure for the device.
Thanks to a newly designed oxide back panel, the ink particles on the E-Ink panel can move faster. The device uses new LED pixels and a special lighting system to enhance colors. These technological advancements have also helped improve page-turning speed in the new Paperwhite model.
One of the biggest advantages of the device is that it makes the user interface more attractive. Book covers can now be displayed in full color, and a more vibrant standby screen is offered on the lock screen. As a new feature, users can now make highlights in different colors and view these highlights by color on the Kindle app on their phones.
Let’s see if this new move will help Amazon Kindle maintain its dominance in the market. You can also share your thoughts on the topic in the comments.
