The MURAD AESA radar test flight, developed by Baykar and signed by ASELSAN, marked a new milestone on the Bayraktar Kızılelma platform. Turkey’s first unmanned combat aircraft equipped with this radar will play a critical role in air warfare.
MURAD AESA Radar Test Flight Details
Bayraktar Kızılelma tested the MURAD 100-A AESA radar integrated into its nose section for the first time in the air. ASELSAN announced the successful completion of the test. This integration increased the platform’s power.
The Kızılelma, which will enter the inventory in 2026, will lighten the load on F-16s and F-4s. Therefore, this national engineering initiative strengthens the defense industry. The aircraft will make rapid decisions in the combat environment.
The MURAD 100-A is equipped with a wide frequency band and GaN power amplifiers. Thanks to electronic beam steering, it is resistant to jamming. It offers simultaneous air-to-air and air-to-ground engagements. The range reaches approximately 296 km.
AESA technology scans much faster than mechanical radars. This allows it to track multiple targets. ASELSAN’s innovation makes it ideal for UAVs. It also works with BVR missiles.
Furthermore, integration efforts accelerated after the test flight. National projects are strengthening Turkey’s defense power. More tests are expected in the future.
