Konami, one of the world’s largest game developers, has announced the creation of a new animation studio called Konami Animation. The Japanese studio will turn the company’s popular games into anime and movie adaptations.
New anime and movies on the way with Konami Animation
Konami Animation has announced its first project. It stated that it is developing a special anime titled “Yu-Gi-Oh Card Game Chronicles” to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Yu-Gi-Oh card game. The short film features memorable duels and moments from the series.
According to Konami officials, the animation studio will develop projects in three main areas. First, the principles that support the game development process will be taken into consideration. This means that adaptation projects will emphasize the game story and characters.
The studio also said it wants to be unique in art direction. Stating that it will be involved in “every level of animation”, the Japanese company seems to develop many projects with large and small budgets in this context.
Thirdly, Konami Animation wants to incorporate game development technologies into animation projects. In this way, it stated that it will also respect the anime and movie world.
With this move, Konami will have the opportunity to bring its popular series to a wider audience beyond games. The company will leverage the animation industry to bring its iconic franchises to the digital world.
