LG is intensifying competition in the television industry by joining one of the latest trends in television technology. The tech giant is preparing to officially introduce its next-generation television model, called LG Micro RGB evo, at CES 2026. Before the show, the company shared some important technical details about this exciting screen technology with technology enthusiasts.
LG’s new television move: Micro RGB Evo features revealed
Micro RGB technology promises a much more advanced viewing experience compared to standard LED backlit LCD televisions. Instead of traditional white light, this new system uses independently controllable red, green, and blue Micro LEDs as the backlight source. This technical structure allows for a much wider and richer color gamut on the screen. This approach is considered a significant bridge between the precision of OLED technology, which illuminates each pixel individually, and screens that only use Mini LEDs.

The new television series is equipped with an AI enhancement engine developed to maximize image quality. According to the company’s press release, LG Micro RGB evo has also been certified by the international testing organization Intertek. The device is said to achieve 100% color gamut coverage in BT.2020, DCI-P3, and Adobe RGB standards. It also features over a thousand dimming zones for precise brightness control.
Currently, the few other brands using Micro RGB technology are selling these products at very high price points. For example, Samsung’s model with similar technology, announced earlier this year, launched at a price of $29,999. Compared to Samsung’s massive 115-inch model, LG offers users a wider variety of manageable size options, such as 100-inch, 86-inch, and 75-inch. Although the sizes are relatively smaller, the LG Micro RGB evo is still expected to be priced in the upper segment. All the details will be clarified at CES 2026, which will be held in Las Vegas between January 6-9.
Evolving display technologies are taking home theater systems to a whole new level, but costs are increasing proportionally. So, what are your thoughts on this rapid change in television technology? If you were upgrading your TV at home, would you choose OLED or wait for this new Micro RGB technology? Share your opinions with us in the comments.
