LG is kicking off CES 2026 early with a trio of 5K gaming monitors under its UltraGear evo line, showing no signs of playing it safe. From curved OLEDs to the first 5K Mini LED panel, the company is making a clear statement: high resolution, high refresh, and high ambition belong together.
5K OLED gaming lands with the 39-inch UltraGear GX9
The UltraGear GX9 (39GX950B) is a 39-inch ultra-wide OLED monitor with a 21:9 aspect ratio and a sharp 5120 x 2160 “5K2K” resolution. LG’s 4th-gen Tandem WOLED panel promises bright, color-rich visuals, paired with a subtle 1500R curve that balances immersion without overwhelming desk setups.
It supports Dual Mode, toggling between:
- 165Hz at full 5K2K
- 330Hz at WFHD (2560 x 1080)
Response times are nearly instantaneous at 0.03ms, while DisplayHDR True Black 500 and on-device AI upscaling aim to deliver cleaner visuals without GPU strain. AI Scene Optimization and AI Sound also try to tweak picture and audio in real time.
Minisforum DEG2 debuts as a dual Thunderbolt 5 and OCuLink eGPU dock with SSD expansion, 2.5G LAN, and 140W charging.
Mini LED enters 5K territory with the GM9
LG’s 27GM950B claims the title of the first-ever 5K Mini LED gaming monitor, pairing 2,304 dimming zones with a new Zero Optical Distance design. This helps minimize blooming while preserving Mini LED’s brightness edge.
Peak brightness hits 1,250 nits, and it holds a DisplayHDR 1000 badge. Like the GX9, it features:
- 165Hz at native 5K
- 330Hz at QHD
This combination positions it as a serious competitor for gamers who want brightness, detail, and contrast without leaning on OLED.
LG UltraGear G9 stretches gaming into 52 inches
The last entry, UltraGear 52G930B, goes all-in on size and scale. This 52-inch 5K2K monitor features a 12:9 aspect ratio, blending the height of a 42-inch 16:9 screen with the width of an ultrawide—33% wider than UHD, by LG’s count.
Wrapped in a bold 1000R curve, this model runs at a steady 240Hz and is VESA DisplayHDR 600 certified. It’s clearly built for gamers, streamers, and multitaskers who want one massive display instead of two or three.
