WhatsApp continues to work on new features to improve the user experience. The most striking among these innovations is the like reactions feature for WhatsApp status updates. With this new feature, which is still in the testing phase for Android users, users will be able to quickly send likes to their friends’ statuses.
WhatsApp status updates get like reactions feature
WhatsApp has started testing the ability to leave likes on status updates. The Meta-owned platform is rolling out this feature in beta version 2.24.17.21 for Android. When viewing status updates, there will be a heart-shaped “Like” button next to the “Reply” text box.
Users will be able to leave likes on their friends’ statuses by clicking on this button. Like Instagram stories, people who leave likes will appear in the status trackers list. WhatsApp will also give users the option to receive notifications for these like reactions.
This feature shows that WhatsApp is becoming more like social media platforms. Status updates have become a very popular sharing method among WhatsApp users and these like reactions are expected to increase interactions. It is not yet clear when the feature will be available to all users, but the progress of the testing process shows that this date is close.
WhatsApp is developing new features for privacy and security
WhatsApp continues to work not only on interaction features but also on security and privacy features. With a newly developed feature, users will be able to automatically block messages from unknown accounts. When this feature is activated, messages above a certain volume will be automatically blocked. This will make it easier to deal with unwanted messages and possible spam content.
This new security feature is still under development, so it’s not even available to beta users. WhatsApp has not yet announced when it will make it generally available, but it’s clearly an important step to improve user security.
