First benchmark result surfaces for MacBook Air with M2 Chip

Ana sayfa / Notebooks

The 2022 MacBook Air, which is available for pre-order, has started to appear in benchmark tests. This gave us the chance to compare the performance of the Apple Silicon M2 with its predecessors. While the CPU performance results are not exactly mind-blowing, they are a decent step-up from those of the late 2020 Apple MacBook Air with M1 chip. Here are the details…

MacBook Air with M2 offers a 20 percent multi-core performance increase over its predecessor

The MacBook Air with the M2 scored an average of 1,904 on the single-core Geekbench test and 8,838 on the multi-core Geekbench test. Compared to the MacBook Air with M1, the new MacBook Air is 11.61% percent faster in the single-core test and 19.11 percent faster in the multi-core test.

Compared to the MacBook Pro with the same chip, we can see that its performance is slightly lower. The MacBook Pro scored 1,937 and 8,962 on the same tests, respectively. For the difference, we can say that the Pro version owes the active cooling system.

The new MacBook air with the M2 chip leaves behind the Mac Pro desktop workstation with this performance. The model we are talking about is the Mac Pro with an 8-core Intel Xenon W-3223 processor. Compared to prices, the new MacBook Air is $5,000 cheaper. Mac Pro scores 1000 and 8000 points in Geekbench tests, respectively. We can say that the winner is the new MacBook.
