An unfortunate user in the Netherlands asked Apple to replace a MacBook Pro that was severely damaged in a car accident. The user requested a replacement under AppleCare+, but Apple refused. Although the user claimed that the accident was completely unintentional, Apple refused, claiming that the damage was “excessive”. Apple’s stance has divided users on social media. AppleCare+ claims denied for MacBook Pro model damaged in car crash
Posting on Reddit under the username “frk1974”, he said that no one was hurt in the car accident, but his MacBook Pro model became completely unusable. The user, who could not replace his device despite having AppleCare+ insurance, stated that the money he paid for insurance was wasted.
As you know, Apple’s AppleCare+ policies exclude coverage for damage caused by willful, careless or abusive use. The user stated that the accident was the result of sheer carelessness and that he had disclosed this to Apple. However, Apple refuses to provide insurance coverage in such cases.
Meanwhile, AppleCare+ is available for the MacBook Pro for between 109.99 and 159.99 euros per year or between 299 and 429 euros for 3 years. However, as we’ve seen in this example, users can be frustrated by such disagreements with Apple over coverage.
