Bungie, the creator of the Halo and Destiny series, has finally taken concrete steps for Marathon, the extraction shooter game that has been the subject of delays for some time. Today, the studio released a 23-minute Vision of Marathon video, sharing the game’s new vision, pricing policy, and most importantly, its release window with players.
When is Marathon’s release date?
Following feedback from alpha tests in April, the game was indefinitely delayed, but a new timeline has been set. Bungie announced that they are targeting a release date of March 2026 for Marathon. The game will be released simultaneously on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
Competitive pricing: $39.99
The game’s pricing strategy has also been clarified. Bungie announced that the target price for Marathon is $39.99. This price tag positions it at a similar level to its recently released and highly successful competitor, Arc Raiders. The studio also stated that all gameplay updates, such as maps and events, will be delivered to players throughout the year.
Newly released gameplay footage shows the game’s atmosphere taking on a dark, bold, and realistic tone. Set on the planet Tau Ceti IV, the game features realistic weather conditions, enhanced environmental storytelling, and visual improvements. The following features have also been confirmed:
Proximity Chat: Voice communication with opponents or teammates.
Solo Queue: A special matchmaking queue for those who want to play solo.
Unlimited Passes: The Battle Pass will not expire; players can complete it whenever they want.
Fair Play: The studio guarantees that pay-to-win mechanics will never be present in the game.
Bungie stated that they will release another update in January. So, what do you think about Bungie’s new game, Marathon, and its $40 price tag? Share your thoughts in the comments!
