Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg made fun of Apple’s latest decision regarding App Store policies. Speaking at the Stripe Sessions 2025 event, Zuckerberg made a reference to Apple CEO Tim Cook and said, “Tim’s week has not been great.” In the same speech, Zuckerberg supported Google CEO Sundar Pichai and said, “I’m not going to go into it, but I like Sundar.”

Apple had removed Fortnite from the App Store due to a payment system dispute with Epic Games. This move was met with great backlash both in the industry and by regulatory bodies.

However, with the latest decision in the US, Apple was forced to officially relax external referral restrictions on the App Store. Many services other than in-app purchases, such as Stripe, are now exempt from paying commissions to Apple.
Zuckerberg’s words are considered a reflection of the long-standing tension between Apple and Meta. In the past, Apple CEO Tim Cook has harshly criticized Facebook’s privacy practices, referring to Zuckerberg having to testify in Congress, saying, “I wouldn’t put myself in that position.”
The rivalry between the two tech giants is not limited to software policies. Meta is preparing to launch its affordable Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses in the near future. On the Apple side, it is known that a glasses study focused on augmented reality technology and supported by Apple Intelligence is ongoing.
