MediaTek has become a direct competitor to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X series with its Kompanio Ultra processor developed for next-generation Chromebooks. The processor, which draws attention especially with its artificial intelligence performance and energy efficiency, offers features at a level that will surpass eight-core variants such as Snapdragon X Plus.
MediaTek will appear with Kompanio Ultra processor
Developed with a 3-nanometre manufacturing process, Kompanio Ultra promises up to 50% improvement in energy efficiency. The eight-core structure in the processor focuses on high performance. Especially with the new Cortex-X925 core, which can reach up to 3.62GHz, a significant leap in single-core performance is offered.

Kompanio Ultra will be up to 18% faster than current Chromebook flagship processors. One of the most striking points is the new generation 8th generation NPU that the processor has. This NPU offers AI power at 50 TOPS (trillion operations per second), surpassing the 45 TOPS offered by Qualcomm in Snapdragon X Elite models.
MediaTek is also assertive on the connection side. Kompanio Ultra promises wider coverage and stable connectivity with the latest Wi-Fi 7 support. Moreover, the company emphasises that this processor is not only performance-oriented, but also versatile. Ideal for education, productivity and business-oriented users, the processor can outperform its competitors on the price-performance side.
The first Chromebook models with Kompanio Ultra processor are expected to go on sale in the coming months. So what do you think about this issue? You can share your opinions with us in the comments section below.
