At MWC 2025, which will kick off on March 3, MediaTek will introduce its latest M90 5G-Advanced modem, which promises significant advances in mobile connectivity. Compliant with 3GPP Release 17 and the upcoming 18 specifications, the modem reaches download speeds of up to 12 Gbps and increases upload performance by up to 20% with 2T-2T Uplink TX switching technology. Here are the details…
MediaTek M90 5G-Advanced features
With devices increasingly reliant on AI devices, MediaTek plans to launch its new 5G modem soon, which promises to improve mobile connectivity performance.

The M90 supports sub-6GHz (FR1) connections up to 6CC-CA, mmWave (FR2) connections up to 10CC-CA, and dual SIM 5G connectivity, allowing users to use two networks simultaneously.
Another new feature is the integration of MediaTek Modem AI (MMAI) technology with artificial intelligence, which optimizes energy efficiency and connectivity by analyzing data traffic patterns and detecting device usage.
AI also improves modem performance with a smart antenna that promises to improve operating environment identification accuracy by 99.5% and increase data throughput by up to 24%. In addition, the M90 supports satellite connectivity (NTN), extending coverage to remote locations via 3GPP IoT-NTN and NR-NTN technologies.
Another feature of the modem is the MediaTek UltraSave feature, which reduces average energy consumption by up to 18%, thus extending the battery life of devices. MediaTek Senior General Manager Mingxi Fan said that the company is developing solutions for the transition to 6G networks in the future.
We do not know which devices will be equipped with this component for now. However, more details are expected to emerge very soon.
