Mercedes-Benz is preparing to launch a smaller and more affordable version of the G Series. The promotional images published by the brand indicate that this model will be included in the new product range.
Mercedes is coming with an affordable G Series
The new G Series will be inspired by the brand’s iconic G Series off-roader, but will be more compact. Although there is no clear information about the vehicle’s features, pricing and which markets it will be offered to, it is thought that Mercedes-Benz aims to appeal to a wide range of users with this new model.

In previous statements made by Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Källenius, it was stated that a model called ‘downsized G Series’ would be launched. In the first statements, it was informed that this model would be positioned as an SUV for urban use, unlike the off-road-oriented structure of the classic G Series.
In the teaser image published by Mercedes-Benz, the introduction of the model with the expression ‘g-Class’ drew attention. The lower-case ‘g’ indicates that this model is a derivative of the classic G Series but will come in smaller dimensions.
Previously leaked sketches also revealed that the downsised G Series will have a more compact and modern design approach. With its reduced dimensions, it is also possible that the model will be produced in coupe form like the first generation G Series.
There is no clear information about the exact extent to which the model’s off-road capabilities will be restricted. However, it is expected that some advanced off-road systems will not be included in the new model and instead a more city-orientated driving dynamics will be offered.
These changes will both reduce production costs and make the price competitive, and will allow the brand to appeal to a wider customer base in the SUV segment. So what do you think about this subject? You can share your opinions with us in the comments section below.
