As part of its efforts to expand its electric vehicle lineup, Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the long-wheelbase electric version of the CLA L EV, developed specifically for the Chinese market. This new model, available for pre-order with a starting price of approximately $36,000, has the potential to be the most affordable executive car in the brand’s lineup.

The CLA L EV stands out with its longer body compared to the standard CLA. The vehicle’s wheelbase reaches 2,830 mm, representing a 40 mm increase compared to the standard CLA.

With a total length of 4,783 mm, the vehicle offers more spacious and comfortable space, especially for rear seat passengers. Among the design details, while maintaining the brand’s current lines, the illuminated star logo and the reshaped front grille stand out. The vehicle’s width is 1,856 mm and its height is 1,469 mm.
The model’s most ambitious feature is its range-topping performance. Powered by an 85 kWh battery, the CLA L EV can travel up to 866 kilometers according to the CLTC test cycle in China. The vehicle’s average energy consumption is a low 10.9 kWh per 100 kilometers.
The vehicle also presents a strong performance in terms of charging technologies, developed on an 800V architecture. This platform offers fast charging support up to 325 kW. This high charging power provides significant convenience for users on long journeys. Mercedes-Benz states that a range of 325 kilometers can be achieved with just 10 minutes of charging.
The CLA L EV will be manufactured in China and is currently available for pre-order only in this market. It is not yet clear whether the model will be available for global sale in the future.
