Meta’s artificial intelligence assistant “Meta AI” has crossed a significant threshold by reaching 1 billion monthly active users across the company’s app ecosystem. CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that this success is just the beginning and that developing the product with broader personalization, voice interaction and entertainment features is among his priorities.
Meta AI reaches exactly 1 billion monthly users
Meta AI was also launched as a standalone application in April. This step is thought to accelerate user growth. The assistant provides services integrated with Meta’s platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp. The number of monthly users, which was 500 million in September 2024, has doubled in just eight months.

Meta plans to transform this user base into a structure that can generate more revenue. Zuckerberg announced that different revenue models will be put into effect once the assistant’s development is complete. Plans include paid features, subscription systems that provide increased processing power and advanced recommendation engines.
This strategy by Meta is seen as part of the company’s long-term plans in the field of artificial intelligence. In February, CNBC reported that the company was preparing to test a paid subscription system similar to ChatGPT. However, Meta AI’s progress is not only technological, but also its economic potential.
Zuckerberg said in a statement, “It may seem a little funny that a billion monthly active users doesn’t seem like enough scale for us, but that’s where we are,” emphasizing that Meta AI has not yet reached its full potential.
