The competition in the field of artificial intelligence has gone beyond technological breakthroughs and turned into a fierce struggle over human resources. In this new front between Meta and OpenAI, high-level employee transfers have become the center of the agenda.
The Meta and OpenAI war continues
Meta’s Chief Technology Officer Andrew Bosworth made remarkable statements in a meeting held within the company, directly responding to OpenAI CEO Sam Altman’s claims. Altman claimed in a recent podcast broadcast that Meta had offered up to $100 million per person to transfer some OpenAI employees.

Bosworth, however, clearly denied these statements and responded by saying, “Sam is not being honest.” According to the reports, the offers in question do not include a direct “signing bonus” as Altman mentioned, but instead consist of much more comprehensive and long-term salary + stock packages. Bosworth said, “He talks as if we are doing this for every single person… The market is hot, but not that hot,” and expressed that he found the claims exaggerated.
Bosworth also said that some names that have moved from OpenAI to Meta have been reported in the media, but that there have been other important transfers that have not been made public. The CTO stated that Altman’s “propensity to exaggerate” may be a deliberate strategy in this context, and said, “I know very well why he did this. Because we manage to get talented people from OpenAI and he is not happy about it.”
According to the latest information, the latest names to join Meta’s superintelligence development team include Lucas Beyer, Alexander Kolesnikov and Xiaohua Zhai, who founded OpenAI’s Zurich office. These transfers show that the company is rapidly strengthening its human resources in the field of artificial intelligence.
