Meta is one of the biggest and most popular technology companies, especially among social media. If there is a project about social networks, Meta tries to develop a system immediately. For example, Meta announced short videos on its platforms when these videos became popular on other platforms. Now, the company confirmed that it is working on a decentralized text-based app, codenamed P92. According to rumors, it will be a Twitter alternative or a Mastodon competitor. Here are the details about Meta’s decentralized social network “P92″…
Meta P92 coming as a Twitter alternative
The popular tech company confirmed that it is developing a new text-based application. It will be a first for Meta because it has already WhatsApp for “messaging”, Facebook for “connection”, and Instagram for “visual” platforms. With the new announcement, it will introduce a text-based application. The reason for the popularity of the upcoming app is the news about the alternative platform to Twitter. A few months ago, Meta explained it is working on an alternative application to Twitter, and now the Meta P92 is confirmed.
Although the tech giant confirmed this development in a statement, it didn’t give more details about the upcoming platform. A Meta spokesperson said, “We’re exploring a standalone decentralized social network for sharing text updates. We believe there’s an opportunity for a separate space where creators and public figures can share timely updates about their interests.”
Additionally, Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp owner company announced that they would bring a Twitter-like post flow section to Instagram. According to the announcements, we expect to see the latest updates soon on various social media platforms.
For now, we know that the project is still in development. Also, it is early to launch this product, so there are no details about when to release the new platform, Meta P92. The legal and regulatory teams of the company have started to investigate potential privacy concerns about the upcoming app.
