Meteksan Defense unveiled its next-generation land surveillance radar, the Retinar GSR, for the first time at the IDEF 2025 International Defense Industry Fair. Developed as the newest member of the Retinar perimeter surveillance radar family, the system is designed specifically for border security and the protection of critical facilities. Drawing on the company’s field experience, the radar will be exhibited in Istanbul from July 22-27 as part of the fair.
Meteksan unveils the Retinar GSR land surveillance radar
The Retinar GSR, with its technical features, was developed to enhance the operational capabilities of security units. The system offers a range of up to 12 kilometers for human detection. Its ability to detect low-speed moving targets allows it to simultaneously detect threats of varying characteristics, such as a crawling person and a high-speed vehicle.

This feature provides advantages in areas where conventional radar systems are weak. The radar can simultaneously display the speed, direction, and location of detected targets. Micro-Doppler spectrogram analysis allows it to determine the target’s class with high accuracy. It was developed to integrate with cameras and other sensor systems.
The system can also operate in adverse weather conditions. Capable of operating uninterruptedly 24 hours a day in foggy or rainy weather with restricted visibility, the radar creates a wide security coverage area in the region it is deployed in. This feature creates an effective preventative layer against environmental threats both at border lines and in strategic infrastructure facilities.
Meteksan Defense General Manager Adil Baktır, in a statement regarding the Retinar GSR development process, highlighted the experience gained in the field from existing products. Operational data obtained from the Retinar PTR system, which has previously been deployed both domestically and internationally, was directly used as a reference in the development of the new radar. Following the PTR’s success in the field, the Retinar GSR was developed to address the need for a system capable of detecting longer-range and lower-speed targets.
Baktır stated that the Retinar product family will enter a new phase with the rapid deployment of the new radar in the field. The system is configured to offer a significant advantage to security forces, particularly with its long-range target detection.
It stands out with its ability to perform numerous processes, from target detection and classification to localization and tracking, all on a single platform.
The system, showcased at IDEF 2025, reflects Meteksan Defense’s expertise in perimeter surveillance technologies at a new level. The radar is expected to be effectively utilized both domestically and in export markets in the coming period.
