Technology giant Microsoft continues its AI integration without slowing down. In a new move aimed at increasing user productivity, the company has added Copilot Chat to popular Microsoft 365 applications Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote. This new feature allows users to interact with AI support directly within the file.
Microsoft 365 Adds Copilot Chat Support
Microsoft says that with this update, Copilot is no longer just a tool; it has become a true personal assistant for the user. The AI is there for the user while drafting a document, reviewing a spreadsheet, or editing emails. Copilot Chat is ready to answer questions, generate content, provide ideas, and automate tasks.

Unlike a typical chatbot, Copilot Chat understands context. This allows it to respond based on the context of the file the user is working on. For example, a user preparing a PowerPoint presentation can ask Copilot Chat, “What questions might the audience ask while watching the presentation?” and receive personalized recommendations based on those questions.
The new feature also allows users to reference other documents. Simply use the “/” command. The system offers suggestions, such as recently used documents, and allows for multiple image uploads. The expanded edit box allows users to more easily view and edit their queries.
Users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license can access all their business data through Copilot Chat. Researcher and Analyst agents are also available to these users. The company states that user feedback has led to significant improvements in Copilot’s core functionality.
As a result of these improvements, Copilot responses are 30 percent longer, structured more clearly, visuals more understandable, and citations more accurate. Additionally, an improved spell checker and other Copilot improvements have been introduced in Word.
