Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella attended the Intel Foundry Direct Connect event to confirm the partnership. He said that the semiconductor chip produced by Microsoft will use Intel’s upcoming 18A architecture. This means a huge market for 18A.
The details of Microsoft’s chip design are not yet known. However, the software giant announced plans for two AI-focused processors last year. Using Intel’s architecture in production will greatly contribute to Microsoft’s artificial intelligence and machine learning efforts.
