Microsoft has begun collecting data for its new AI assistant, Microsoft Gaming Copilot, developed for gamers. This system, automatically installed in Windows 11, collects screenshots and data by default while you play.
What exactly does Microsoft Gaming Copilot do?
This new AI works as a companion designed to assist players in-game. To train this system, Microsoft analyzes players’ gameplay data and text. The company aims to make Copilot a better assistant through this.

The most controversial aspect of this news is that this data collection feature is opt-out. This means that if you don’t want Copilot to track you, you have to find the settings and manually turn it off. Many users would prefer such settings to be off by default.
Fortunately, it’s possible to stop this data collection. Users can disable the “Model training on text” option by going to the Privacy Settings menu in the Game Bar. Therefore, it’s crucial for privacy-conscious gamers to check this setting.
