Microsoft has confirmed an audio bug affecting Windows 2025 and Windows 11 users after the January 10 security update. This error, which causes sound systems connected via USB not to work, especially affects those who use DAC (digital to analogue converter). Here are other details you need to know…
Microsoft acknowledged the error for Windows 11!
‘After installing this security update, you may experience issues with USB audio devices. If you are using a USB 1.0 audio driver-based DAC, you are more likely to experience this issue.’ Microsoft confirmed the bug. The bug affects Windows 11, 24H2, 23H2 and 22H2 versions of Windows 10. Users who have installed the update say their audio is completely cut out.

Microsoft announced that it is working on a permanent fix for the bug, but cannot provide an official solution at this time. As a workaround, users were advised to connect their audio system directly to the computer instead of a USB DAC.
For Windows 10 users, this error is much more important. As a matter of fact, in October 2025, Microsoft is expected to end its official support for Windows 10. Therefore, it seems that such problems will now be handled with more temporary solutions for Windows 10.
It remains to be seen whether Microsoft will be able to bring a permanent solution to this bug. Did you also experience sound problems after installing this update? Do not forget to share your opinions in the comments and via our social media accounts!
