Microsoft has officially launched the controversial “Recall” feature that will be available on Copilot Plus PCs. This function saves instant screenshots of actions performed on the device; giving users a historical timeline.
Microsoft launches the much-talked-about Recall feature
Recall was first introduced in June 2024, but its launch was delayed due to serious privacy concerns. Microsoft has added new security measures to the feature in the meantime. Snapshots are encrypted with Trust Platform Module (TPM) support.

In addition, Windows Hello authentication is required to change Recall settings. Users can now filter specific applications or websites, adjust the retention period of screenshots, or delete certain content from the history.
Recall is offered as a completely optional feature. There is an option to enable it during installation, and users can completely remove it if they wish. These updates are coming as part of the April 2025 Windows preview package and will be distributed in a controlled manner.
The Recall and Click to Do features are offered with the “preview” tag. Users who want to use the new features right away can enable the “Get the latest updates as soon as they are available” option in Settings > Windows Update.
The Windows search function has also been improved with the update. Natural language-supported searches can now be performed on Copilot Plus PCs via File Explorer, the Windows search box, or the Settings menu.
Microsoft has also introduced the new “Click to Do” feature. This feature, which works with a similar logic to Google’s “Circle to Search” technology, is activated with the Windows key and left click combination.
