Microsoft’s long-developed and publicly controversial Recall feature has begun to be gradually offered to Windows Insider users. The feature, which works on Copilot Plus-supported computers, automatically records screenshots of operations performed on the system in the background, providing quick access to these contents.
Microsoft will soon launch the Recall feature
Recall has received intense criticism regarding privacy and security since the day it was first introduced. After cybersecurity experts warned that a feature that constantly records the screen in the system could cause security vulnerabilities, Microsoft postponed its original release date from June 2024 to October 2024.

However, the feature was not made available in October either. In the meantime, Recall was initially tested only on Copilot Plus devices with Qualcomm processors. This scope was later expanded and the feature was also opened for trial on systems with Intel and AMD processors.
Microsoft did not share a clear date for when the feature will be activated for all users across the system. However, the fact that Windows Insider tests have started indicates that Recall is close to being available for general use.
In its latest blog post detailing the working principle of Microsoft Recall, it emphasized that users have full control over the recorded data, that this data is stored locally within the device and is not transferred outside.
The company aims to reduce privacy concerns with these statements. So what do you think about this issue? You can easily share your views with us in the comments section below.
