By examining a 3TB database, the security experts at NordPass have compiled a report on the most commonly used passwords in 2022. They have also provided a country-specific list for 30 countries.

According to NordPass’ report, the most widely used password worldwide is “password.” It was found that 4,929,113 individuals used this password, and it could be cracked in less than a second.

• Use a long password. Short passwords are easily guessable.
• Include a combination of uppercase letters (A-Z), lowercase letters (a-z), numbers (0-9), and special characters (#, $, !, etc.) in your password. This makes your password more complex and robust.
• Avoid using personal information (such as your name, birthdate, etc.) or commonly guessed passwords.
• Use unique passwords for each account and avoid reusing the same password across multiple accounts. This way, if one of your accounts is compromised, it won’t affect your other accounts.
