Netflix has started testing a new AI-powered search system in collaboration with OpenAI. According to the latest information, the company is working on an advanced search engine that can recommend content based on users’ moods or specific preferences.

This system will go beyond existing content recommendation algorithms and offer more personalized and situational movie and series recommendations. The new search feature is currently being tested only in some countries and only on the iOS app.

This function will be available entirely optionally. It is stated that the new recommendation system is largely supported by OpenAI technology. This shows that the recommendations are based not only on data analysis but also on the ability to extract meaning based on productive AI.

Netflix has been using algorithms that recommend content based on user behavior for years. However, the system currently being tested will have a structure that works directly with text input and can interpret context.

For example, users will be able to search with directions such as “I want to watch something inspiring but sad”. The system will analyze this expression and list the appropriate content options.
