Netflix has added HDR10 Plus support to Samsung TVs to provide a better experience with 4K HDR content. This innovation is offered as part of Netflix’s Premium plan, making HDR10 Plus available on approximately 50 percent of content.
Netflix adds HDR10 Plus support to Samsung TVs
Samsung TVs do not support Dolby Vision, but the company developed HDR10 Plus technology significantly in 2017 as an alternative to Dolby Vision. HDR10 Plus similarly provides scene-based tone mapping and, unlike Dolby Vision, does not require royalties.

Although HDR10 Plus is not as widespread as Dolby Vision, Samsung’s position as the world’s largest TV manufacturer has made this format important. Without HDR10 Plus support, Samsung TV users would watch content on Netflix in HDR10 format.
This technology could produce less accurate lighting results, especially in very bright or very dark scenes. HDR10 Plus corrects this situation with scene-based optimization and provides a significant improvement in image quality.
When HDR10 Plus support was first released, it was only used by Amazon Prime Video, but over time, major platforms such as Disney Plus, Apple TV Plus and now Netflix have started to provide this support.
Netflix offers HDR10 Plus support with the AV1 video codec. Therefore, users need to have a TV that supports the AV1 standard. Most TVs produced in the last five years support this standard.
Netflix announced that it plans to expand HDR10 Plus support to all HDR content by the end of 2025. What do you think about this? You can share your opinions with us in the comments section below.
