Neuralink, the neurotechnology company founded by Elon Musk, has expanded its brain chip implant program to accept volunteer applications from around the world. According to the announcement made on the company’s official account on the X platform, the volunteer process, which was previously only available to citizens of the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada, will now be conducted globally.
Neuralink is accepting applications for its brain chip project
Neuralink is directly targeting individuals living with tetraplegia. Tetraplegia refers to the inability of a person to use all of their limbs, including their hands and feet. Only individuals with this disease will be able to take part in the volunteer program.

It is claimed that the experimental chip placed in the brain allows patients to interact with digital devices through their minds. As of spring 2025, Neuralink has successfully implanted the chip in three people. The first operation was performed at the beginning of last year.
The company states that positive results have been obtained in patients who have been implanted with the chip so far. The experimental process is planned to be expanded in scale and reach hundreds or even thousands of patients. In the new period, not only patients from certain countries but also eligible individuals living anywhere in the world will be able to apply to Neuralink to participate in the program as volunteers.
The program maintains its experimental status, but with the voluntary acceptance process, it is aimed to collect more comprehensive data on the effects of technology on humans. In Neuralink’s public statements, it is emphasized that this process is carried out under scientific supervision and that each application is subject to an ethics committee evaluation.
