Elon Musk, CEO of X and xAI, does not hold back from discussions on artificial intelligence. In this context, he filed a new lawsuit against OpenAI, alleging fraud and blackmail violations. Elon Musk said that OpenAI CEO Sam Altman was also involved in these violations.

In the new lawsuit, Elon Musk claimed that OpenAI reneged on its promise to open source its advanced AI models. According to Musk’s claim, OpenAI licensed its models to Microsoft for use in services such as the coding assistant Copilot.

Musk, one of OpenAI’s original founders and investors, left the board in 2018. After that time, he said the company deviated from its goals due to its profit motive. According to the lawsuit, Musk argues that OpenAI violated the terms of the agreement and “conspired to defraud him of his shares in the company.”

Tesla owners are switching to internal combustion engines. In 2024, many Tesla owners sold their cars and switched to gasoline-powered vehicles.

OpenAI previously operated as a non-profit organization. However, after Musk’s lawsuit against the company, it updated its goals and switched to a for-profit structure. The first lawsuit was withdrawn in June without public announcement.

Musk’s lawyer said the new lawsuit would be more aggressive and argued that OpenAI violated AI ethics in its models. He claimed that Microsoft concealed various security breaches from the public due to its agreement.

The lawsuit asks the court to order OpenAI to publicize various capabilities and to invalidate agreements with Microsoft. It is unclear how the court will evaluate the claims against OpenAI and Sam Altman.
