WhatsApp, which introduced the verified account application for channels and companies last year, is considering integrating the blue tick image in the ‘read receipts’ tab into verified accounts. In this sense, the blue tick application on the Meta platform will also be available to WhatsApp users.
A second blue tick is being added to WhatsApp
According to information revealed in the newly released Android beta version of WhatsApp, 2.24.14.18, WhatsApp will update its verification system in line with Meta’s blue tick. The new feature is expected to be rolled out to all iOS and Android users in about a month.
This update marks Meta’s effort to standardize verification badges across its platforms. In this sense, on Instagram, Meta and WhatsApp, all verified accounts will be represented by the same blue tick. If you are currently using the beta version of WhatsApp on the Google Play Store, you may already have this feature.
Changing the verification badge color may seem like a small adjustment, but it is an important innovation in terms of understanding all trusted accounts in the Meta ecosystem at a glance. Apart from Meta, the fact that platforms such as X (Twitter) and TikTok also use blue ticks may be the main reason for the company to make such a change.
WhatsApp, one of the world’s most popular messaging apps, continues to introduce new features for its nearly 3 billion users. In the very near future, the app is expected to be equipped with many artificial intelligence features developed by Meta.
