Microsoft has announced the public launch of a new subscription tier for its popular Xbox Game Pass service – Game Pass Standard. Priced at $14.99 per month, Game Pass Standard provides a more affordable entry point for those looking to experience the catalog of games available through Game Pass.
Game Pass Standard
Game Pass Standard gives subscribers access to hundreds of console games that can be downloaded and played on Xbox consoles. It also includes online multiplayer access so users can play games online with friends. Subscribers will benefit from exclusive member discounts on games, DLC, and add-ons, with potential savings of up to 50% off in some cases.
While more limited than the flagship Game Pass Ultimate tier, Standard does cover the core console gaming features for many users. It lacks the cross-platform perks of Ultimate, such as access to PC games, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and membership in the EA Play program. But for those primarily playing on Xbox, it unlocks the Game Pass library and multiplayer at a lower monthly fee than Ultimate.
With the addition of Game Pass Standard, Microsoft now offers users more options to tailor their Game Pass experience based on their needs and budget. The different subscription tiers – also including PC Game Pass, Game Pass Core, and Game Pass Ultimate – allow players to choose the best “configuration” between cost and included benefits.
