What will the Cyberpunk sequel look like?
What will the Cyberpunk sequel look like? The job posting for the Senior Game Mechanics Animator position states that one of the role’s key responsibilities is to create “immersive first-person experiences”. This means that the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, developed under the code name Project Orion, will continue with the same camera angle.
As you may remember, when Cyberpunk 2077 was first announced, the first-person perspective was criticized by some gamers. However, after its release, it was found that this perspective better reflected Night City and added depth to the atmosphere.
The job listing also shows that Project Orion is still very early in the development process. Although it was announced last October, the announcement indicates that the transition to active production has not yet taken place and may even begin after the development of the new Witcher game, codenamed Project Polaris, has progressed.
Given that The Witcher 4 is not expected to be released before 2027, it is likely that the new Cyberpunk will not be developed for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, but rather for PC and new platforms to be released between 2027 and 2028.
Additionally, according to CD Projekt Red’s update notes, DLSS 4 has added accelerated single frame generation and lower memory usage to Cyberpunk 2077.
