Hollywood’s famous screenwriter Aaron Sorkin is working on a new screenplay in which he is associated with Facebook and the January 6 attack on the United States Congress. Let’s take a look at the details of the plot of the new Facebook movie.
The new Facebook movie will blame the events of January 6 on Facebook
“I’m going to write about it. I blame Facebook for the January 6 incident. You’ll have to buy a movie ticket to find out why,” Sorkin said in a statement.
Asked if he was writing this idea specifically as a movie, Sorkin said, “I’m trying. Facebook has adjusted its algorithm to encourage the most divisive material. Because that’s what will increase engagement. This is what will lead you to ‘infinite scrolling’ through the corridors of Facebook… Facebook is supposed to be a constant tension between growth and integrity. But there is no such tension. There is only growth,” he replied.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, sources close to Sorkin have confirmed that Sorkin is working on a script related to “The Social Network,” but the project is still in the early stages and no studio has yet gotten involved. Sorkin was previously reported to be working on another January 6-related script, but that project is no longer moving forward.
Directed by David Fincher, “The Social Network” was released in 2010. Jesse Eisenberg and Andrew Garfield played Facebook founders Mark Zuckerberg and Eduardo Saverin and chronicled their journey in building the social media company. The film was nominated for eight Oscars and Sorkin won Best Adapted Screenplay.
Along with The Social Network, Sorkin is known for films such as The West Wing, A Few Good Men, Moneyball and Steve Jobs. Sorkin began his directing career in 2017 with Molly’s Game and has since directed The Trial of the Chicago 7 and Being the Ricardos.
