At WWDC 2025, Apple introduced an update to the Photos app with iOS 26, featuring numerous new features that directly impact the user experience. Abandoning last year’s criticized single-page design, Apple brought back the tabbed structure and made it possible to create spatial scenes from photos. However, another innovation, less noticeable among these major changes, was the event-focused information panel.
New Event-Focused Feature for Photos
With iOS 26, the Photos app can automatically recognize and group photos taken at concerts, sporting events, or other large-scale events. These photos are not only compiled into albums but also supplemented with various information about the event.

Photos taken at a concert display the event’s performing artists, set list, venue information, similar playlists, and upcoming concerts. For sporting events, users are presented with details such as scores, stadium information, and upcoming matches.
For photos related to an event, the classic information button is replaced by a dedicated “ticket” icon. Tapping this icon opens a new activity panel, displaying details that will enhance the user experience. Furthermore, memories in the “Collections” tab are now named after the event itself, rather than just the date or location.
This feature stands out as part of an approach aimed at making users’ past memories more meaningful and informative. By combining event details with photos, Apple elevates the Photos app beyond a mere media viewer into a platform for digitally enriching personal memories. This feature is available to all users with iOS 26.
