Mercedes-Benz continues to generate excitement in the automotive world. Recently making headlines with a smaller version of its series, the German manufacturer has now attracted attention with the Mercedes G-Class Convertible, an open-top version of the iconic design. New images shared by the brand indicate that the vehicle’s development is nearing completion.
Mercedes G-Class Convertible and Expected Technical Specifications
The semi-camouflaged photos reveal that the model has been tested in real-world conditions for an extended period. No major design surprises are expected; the vehicle retains the series’ characteristic angular lines. While official technical data has not yet been released, powerful options are rumored to be under the hood.

According to industry information, the new model is likely to launch with two different engine options:
- 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine: 443 horsepower and 559 Nm of torque.
- 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine: 577 horsepower and 849 Nm of torque.
Alongside these powerful engine options, it’s stated that the vehicle will be produced in limited numbers. This means the new Mercedes G-Class Cabrio will be launched with a significantly higher price tag. Already on the radar of collectors and luxury SUV enthusiasts, the vehicle will take its place among the brand’s prestige models.
Mercedes’ engine choices have been a frequent topic of discussion in recent years. The switch from a V8 to a 2.0-liter four-cylinder hybrid unit, particularly in the C63 S E Performance model introduced in 2022, was criticized by car enthusiasts. While offering 671 horsepower on paper, this unit, which lacked the driving feel and sound of a V8 engine, failed to attract the expected attention.
According to leaks from within the company, these criticisms have been taken into account. More powerful engines or enhanced V8 units are expected to return to prominence in future performance-focused models. The fact that the G-Class Cabrio will also be available with powerful engine options is interpreted as a signal of this shift in strategy.
