With the iPhone 17 series, Apple introduced a new material to replace the FineWoven cases, which had been the target of user criticism: TechWoven. Unlike FineWoven, this new material promises durability, aesthetics, and sustainability.
New iPhone 17 cases are here
TechWoven combines the durability of a technical fabric with a premium aesthetic. According to sources, this material offers better protection against impacts, scratches, and everyday use. Apple also prioritizes environmental friendliness and maintains ecological balance with this new material. The cases are available in five colors: black, brown, blue, green, and purple.

TechWoven cases also aim to provide user convenience. The cases feature two lanyard holes on each side for attaching a strap or sling. Furthermore, thanks to MagSafe compatibility, they work seamlessly with wireless charging and other accessories. The case’s non-slip texture also helps keep the phone secure in the hand.
Apple’s FineWoven cases, touted as a sustainable alternative to leather, have received numerous complaints since their launch, citing issues such as durability, easy scratching, and rapid wear.
Some retail platforms even issued warnings labeling the product “frequently returned” due to its high return rates. TechWoven appears to be a result of Apple’s shift in strategy following this failure.
Experts indicate that Apple aims to regain user trust with this new move. However, only time will tell whether TechWoven truly delivers on its promises. The company is expected to unveil the iPhone 17 series on September 9th, and these new cases will likely be officially unveiled at that event.
