Microsoft is expanding its Surface laptop family with important innovations. Laptops consisting of two models, Surface Laptop and Surface Pro, will now be powered by Snapdragon X processors. In addition, the Pro series will rival the MacBook by using OLED displays for the first time.
What does the MacBook rival Surface Laptop and Pro promise?
Surface Laptop and Pro were unveiled at the event held in the past hours. Accordingly, Microsoft has completely switched to the Snapdragon X family. So what do the laptops offer?
Surface Laptop 13.8 – 15 inch specs and price
The new Surface Laptop comes in 13.8-inch and 15-inch screen sizes with a touchscreen IPS panel in 2304×1536 and 2496×1664 resolutions. This panel has a 120Hz refresh rate and supports HDR technology.
The 13.8-inch Surface Laptop is powered by Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus, while the 15-inch model is powered only by X Elite. Microsoft claims an 86 percent performance increase over the previous Surface Laptop 5. RAM options include 16GB / 32GB LPDDR5X memory.
The 13.8-inch Surface Laptop can play videos for up to 20 hours and the 15-inch for up to 22 hours. Other key upgrades include WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity, Dolby Atmos speaker, 1080p webcam with Windows Hello support.
The 13.8-inch starts at $999 and goes up to $2399. The 15-inch model starts at $1299 and goes up to $2499. Color options include Sapphire, Dune, Platinum and Black.

Surface Pro features and price
The biggest innovation on the Surface Pro side was the OLED screen option. The new Surface Pro comes with a 13-inch PixelSense Flow OLED display with 2880×1920 resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. It is powered by up to 32GB of RAM and a Snapdragon X Plus / X Elite processor.
The company claimed a 90 percent increase in performance over the previous Surface Pro. Storage has been increased up to 1TB. Microsoft stated that it used carbon fiber coating for durability. The ultra-wide webcam with 1440p resolution also draws attention.
Pricing for the Surface Pro starts at $999 for the LCD version and $1499 for the OLED version. Color options include Sapphire, Dune, Platinum and Black.
