YouTube started to make its redesigned desktop interface available a while ago. In this context, it continues to test the redesigned interface with more users. YouTube stated that Premium subscribers will be able to switch to this design in the coming period.
New YouTube design is available to Premium subscribers
The redesign was first rolled out widely in April. However, testing was halted after receiving mixed feedback from users. As of June, Premium users were shown the new YouTube homepage as part of the test.
Users will be able to share their experiences with the redesigned video page with the platform. According to the statement, the new design aims to improve the video experience and facilitate content discovery. Comment access has also improved.
Subscribers who choose to participate in the tests of the revamped interface will start to see the redesigned layout on the YouTube website. They will also see a feedback form to share their thoughts on the changes with YouTube.
The test period is scheduled to run until July 1 and will be rolled out based on feedback. Premium subscribers can also opt in to test experimental AI-based features where they can ask questions about videos.
The tests, which were conducted in April, were withdrawn within a few weeks due to negative reactions. With the premium user test, YouTube wants to reintroduce the new design more widely.
