Nintendo’s next-generation game console, the Switch 2, reached 3.5 million units sold in just four days after its launch on June 5. This number surpassed the launch performance of the first-generation Switch, which held the company’s previous record.
Nintendo Switch 2 sales hit peak
Switch, which sold approximately 2.7 million units in its first four days, has been replaced by Switch 2. Switch 2, which has taken the title of the fastest-selling console in Nintendo history, has achieved remarkable success not only within the company but also in the general console market with this performance. Sony’s PlayStation 5 console reached 2.1 to 2.5 million sales in the first four days of its release in 2020.

Despite its high price tag, the fact that the Switch 2 has attracted such great interest confirms the expected sales boom following the stock shortages experienced during the pre-order period. The fact that the console quickly sold out of shelves in many countries upon its launch showed that user demands exceeded production capacity at the time of its launch.
Nintendo Switch 2, which comes with many innovations, offers a system built on the first model with its technical features. The new model comes to users with a larger and thinner framed 120Hz HDR supported 1080p LCD screen.
There is also an increase in connection options in the new Switch. There is a USB-C port on both the top and bottom of the device. Storage capacity is determined as 256GB. However, microSD card support is limited compared to the previous model.
Nintendo announced in March that it planned to sell 15 million Switch 2s by the end of the 2026 fiscal year. The 3.5 million sales achieved in the first four days proved that this goal is achievable.
