The Batman series signed by Matt Reeves continues to tell its own story independently from the DC Cinematic Universe with the second film, which will be released in the near future. Matt Reeves, who attracted attention with his great success in the first film, has started working on the new story he plans to tell in the dark streets of Gotham. Here are the details…
Will Batman 2 join the DC Universe?
The Batman, which grossed more than $ 770 million worldwide with the first film, became one of DC’s most acclaimed projects. However, while the new DC Cinematic Universe led by James Gunn and Peter Safran attracted attention, whether Matt Reeves’ Batman universe would join the DCU was a subject of debate for a while.
Speaking at the Golden Globes event recently, Reeves responded to questions about whether Pattinson’s Batman would be included in the DCU. Stating that James Gunn is evaluating this possibility, Reeves stated that there is no clear decision on this issue for the moment.
In addition to all these developments, Matt Reeves is planning to appear with a brand new enemy for Batman 2. In his previous statements, the director stated that Gotham was designed as a dark crime epic rather than a fantasy epic and that his story would proceed on this basis. For this reason, it is rumoured that the main enemy of Batman 2 will be a character that we have not seen until today and that even comic book gurus cannot predict.
There is also the possibility of seeing Batman and Superman in the same story in the DCU’s future projects, but Reeves’ previous statements about including Pattinson’s Batman in the universe, “It all depends on whether it makes sense or not,” also shows that he wants to protect the character’s independence.
