Nokia is officially canceled! The HMD era begins

HMD has announced that it will no longer use the Nokia Mobile name to highlight its own mobile devices. Here's the details.

HMD Global, which has the license to launch Nokia-branded smartphones, is making a new decision. The company has announced that it will no longer use the Nokia Mobile name to highlight its own mobile devices.

In a strategic move, HMD Global will use its own brand instead of Nokia. It announced that it will introduce smartphone models called “HMD” for short. The company also has plans to develop tablets and wireless headphones.

Within the scope of this decision, social media accounts were changed the other day. Now it seems that Nokia’s smartphone site has been redirected directly to HMD. The first HMD-branded products are expected to debut at MWC 2024 in Barcelona.

The partnership between HMD and Nokia started in 2016. The company acquired the right to use the Nokia brand on mobile phones and introduced many affordable models.

But after more than 7 years, HMD Global has decided that the Nokia partnership is no longer beneficial. The company said in a statement that it wants to create its own identity in the mobile market.

As part of the first launch, HMD Global will introduce two series and six new phones in total. The models are expected to be named as follows:

    • Pulse
    • Pulse Pro
    • Legend
    • Legend Plus
    • Legend Pro

As part of the move away from Nokia, HMD Global has severed all ties with Nokia. Existing Nokia smartphones and tablets are also being cleared from stock. It should be noted that Nokia will continue its existence as a company producing 5G technologies.
