London-based tech company Nothing has begun rolling out a long-awaited feature for its smartphones. According to the company’s announcement, it will now be possible to record voice calls on Nothing phones. However, this new feature isn’t initially available to all users. The company has limited call recording to certain phone models and select countries, suggesting it will take some time to become widespread.
How to activate the Nothing Phone call recording feature?
The new call recording feature works through Nothing’s Essential Space app. Users can activate recording by long-pressing the physical “Essential Key” on the side of the phone or by tapping the “Start recording” option in the notification that appears at the top of the screen during a call. When the call is completed and the recording is stopped, the audio file is saved directly to the Essential Space app for later playback, allowing users to easily access their recordings.

Nothing announced that the feature has begun rolling out and that the update will occur automatically. This means users will receive the feature through a server-side update, eliminating the need for any manual action. According to the company’s statement, the call recording feature is currently only available on the Phone 3, Phone 3a, and Phone 3a Pro. Initially, the feature will be available in the UK, India, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
The company also stated that it plans to expand the call recording feature to more markets and potentially more models in the future. This strategy paves the way for the feature to reach a wider user base over time.
